conditions defined in European legislation (Directive 1999/99/EC)...

This system reduces the risk of slip or loss of control of the vehicle when
descending, whether going forward or in reverse.

depending on the gear engaged, while progressively releasing the brakes...
Engaging 5th or 6th gear
Move the gear selector fully to the right to engage 5th or 6th gear.
Failure to follow this instruction could cause permanent damage to the gearbox (inadvertent
engagement of 3rd or 4th gear).
